Trade Alerts
This Ospina case study documents how Carlos Rico-Ospina approached a specific risk, infrastructure, revenue, or research problem and what was built to address it.
Code-defined FX monitoring with push notifications—because alerts should be reproducible, not UI-configured.

The Problem
Consumer alerting tools are manual and not automation-friendly. Alerts should be code-defined and reproducible—declare triggers, schedules, and shutdown logic in code, not through UI clicks.
The Insight
Clean separation between signal definition and delivery, plus explicit lifecycle management, creates deterministic monitoring that behaves like a real trading ops stack.
What I Built
- Built automated FX monitoring for USD/CAD and GBP/USD opportunities
- Implemented breakout monitoring and time-based event alerting
- Push notifications via ntfy.sh with auto-shutdown after triggers
- Developer workflow with uv + pytest for dependency management and testing
Outcomes
- Replaces 'set it in TradingView and hope' with deterministic, deployable monitoring
- Full automation from signal definition to phone notification
